POLICIES

Leadership

The Leadership is comprised of the Facilitator (President), a Co-Facilitator (Vice-President) and the Treasurer who serve six month terms with the option of being re-elected for a second six month consecutive term. The Facilitator can be nominated by a member of the group or themselves. The nominee with the majority of votes will become the Facilitator. In the event of a tie, a group vote will be taken, majority wins. The Facilitator chooses their Co-Facilitator. The terms run from June to November and December to May.

Any disputes regarding business transactions between members shall be brought to the attention of the Leadership, who will act as Arbiters in the dispute and retain the authority to open a classification should a valid reason be found.

The group shall vote on all policies and procedures with a simple majority vote providing the deciding factor in adopting a policy.

Membership

All memberships are in the individual member's name and not the business organization that they represent, no matter which entity pays any dues that may be initiated for fundraising or other reasons.

Each member may represent only one category or business type in the group. Should a member become separated from their organization/employment, they have four (4) weeks to find another organization to represent or their classification will be opened. During this 4-week period, the member may not do 30-second business ads/commercials. Members in this situation should refrain from making a general announcement before the group regarding their status.

Application/Guests

All prospective members must complete a KBX application, which will be submitted to the Membership Committee to ensure that no conflicts with other members' business categories exist. The Membership Committee will check references, recommend, approve and contact the new member to let him/her know of membership approval.

If a member wishes to bring a guest, the member needs to notify leadership of the guest and which category they intend to represent to avoid any conflicts with the current members of the group.

Attendance

All members are expected to attend meetings on a regular basis. Members missing two (2) consecutive meetings without notice of absence will be addressed by the Membership Committee and if unexcused absenteeism persists, the member's classification may be subject to being opened. Any member missing 50% of meetings in a three (3)-month period (unless a medical exception is requested and granted) shall have their spot opened. Any member who finds it necessary to be absent should contact the Facilitator, Co-Facilitator or another member of the group (via phone, e-mail, etc.) to let the group know of their absence from the meeting.

Lunches

All members are responsible to pay for their lunches and do so in a timely manner.

Referrals & Face-to-Face Meetings

Each member should be committed to generating solid referrals (not leads for cold calls) for other members. There is no required amount of referrals per week or month. Referral forms are available to be filled out. The yellow copy is for the person referring business. The white copies should be given to the person who is receiving the referral. The referral slips are optional. It is expected that members do not wait until a meeting to exchange business.

Face-to-face (or one-on-one) meetings are critical to networking. Getting to know the other members in the group and have a clear idea of what they can offer is crucial to passing quality referrals and building network trust. All new members are strongly encouraged to have a face-to-face meeting with each member of the group as soon as they can be arranged.

Speaker Sessions

KBX presents one speaker at each meeting, with the exception of the first week of each month which will be reserved for new members to do a mini presentation. The remaining weeks will be assigned according to a speaker schedule distributed in advance. The speaker may speak on topics such as an in-depth look at their business, news or information relating to their business for the good of the group, etc.

If the scheduled speaker cannot fulfill their allotted time it is their responsibility to switch with another member of the group and make leadership aware of their replacement.

If member forfeits their speaking slot they understand their next opportunity may not come until the scheduled rotation of members is complete.
